Pundits agree: Bilic in no danger of sack

al-shearerBBC pundit Alan Shearer doesn’t believe Slaven Bilic is in any danger of being sacked despite another five goal humiliation at the London Stadium.

Speaking after the game he answered the question of Bilic’s position by saying: “No (he is not under threat).

“I don’t think West Ham are in any danger of relegation but they really must show more passion and response when things aren’t going well.

The players need to show the same passion as the manager who took everything from the crowd.”

And former Hammer Frank Lampard agreed saying: “I don’t see him as being in trouble. The problems is not his, it’s the players and I see a real lack of confidence.

  1. I think it is probably too late now. But it is no good blaming it all on the players. Who chose the players?. Who is supposed to organise them? Who is supposed to develop their confidence? If that person is choosing the replacements ( that we will probably not get anyway) how are things going to change.

    • Should have sacked him a month ago. He’s been found out and is completely out of his depth. I think it is too late now. We’re stuck with him till the end of the season. And we just have to hope we survive the drop.

  2. The team cant defend – we change shape from week to week and so the team lacks structure and cohesion, aside from the obvious lack of confidence. What happened to plying 3 at the back? Our transfer approach smacks of panic and short term.

  3. Need to go back to three at the back with Oxford taking Kouatyes place. I actually thought City werent as good as when they beat us at Ethiad earlier this season but we were awful against a top top side. Sterling, de bryne, silva and aguero will do the same to many teams. Unfortunately tonight it was us.

  4. Kouyate was a huge miss tonight but why will Slav not realise that the back 4 system with no recognised RB has been a disaster and any quality team will shred it to pieces.Nordveidt should never play there again and we need to go to a back 3 again with Oxford in whilst Kouyate is away. Some serious spending by Sullivan who I blame for a lot of this with the purchasing of some truly awful players in the Summer who have seriously hurt the integrity of the team when called upon to play.

  5. We went too deep, gave them the ball and allowed them to play without any pressure on the ball – everyone can see that, it was obvious – why didn’t Bilic do something about it!

Bilic looked like ‘a rabbit caught in thr headlights’ – he didn’t seem to have a clue what to do and the substitutions were pointless, I honestly think he is out of his depth, the recruitment has been a disaster and the present Transfer Window doesn’t look likely to be any better.

  6. Were the Irons poor or were Man City just a class apart?
Consider the difference in the value of the teams, Man City at £532 and West Ham at £171 (http://metro.co.uk/2016/10/04/manchester-uniteds-squad-cost-more-than-twice-as-much-as-liverpools-6169214/). I’m not having a whinge, simply stating that as long as there are clubs that have the buying power and ability to pay salaries that us mere mortals can only dream of, the Prem and cups will always go to those that can afford it. With the occasional anomaly such as Leicester last season.
I’ll follow this team over land and sea (from my couch, buying tickets just seems to ****ing hard), but unless the sheikh of Beijing decides to buy our club as his plaything we will never compete.
The Prem stopped being a competition years ago, will never be a competition, unless a league wide salary cap and transfer cap come into effect. Then the manager, the desire, the fans might make the difference between glory and second place.
Until then I’m forever blowinb bubbles and hoping my dreams don’t fade and die.

  7. I thought we were playing ok until the first ridiculous decision, then it slowly unravelled, there is a lack of leadership not only in the team but from the touchlines.

  8. We capitulated after the penalty, was indeed playing well till then 🙁 #coyi

  9. I have to agree with Michael, I’m afraid. The first two challenges we pulled out of (Creswell and Feghouli). That set the tone, passive performance and just going through the motions until the inevitable first goal (even if a dubious pen). There is no way you can knock a team like City out of the cup without getting stuck in. We didn’t do that, apart from Reid, Obiang and Antonio, as usual.

We can forgive Cressy his nightmare but we really lack characters on the pitch. I can’t see the owners trusting Bilic with any more money. They know we need to spend but won’t trust him, so there may be only one outcome for Slaven.

    • Think you are probably right Ruislip,we will keep him until the end of the season then barring a huge second half if the season he will be let go.

  10. Just got in so I’ll keep it short get rid of the China doll, Ogbonna and Nordveit no pace between any of them! Anyone offers more than 30m for Payet snap there hands off! Make Reid club captain and tell Captain Slow that he ain’t a guaranteed starter anymore and go buy some players with some b******* and love of the shirt 🙂

  11. Dodgy penalty decision, class second goal, embarrassing third goal at which point it was game over. Second half chase some shadows and try not to get battered. Too often we miss vital opportunities to score. Thought feghouli worked hard but end delivery was hopeless from both flanks. Got tucked up by a quality side. We need right back, someone who scores goals and a leader on the pitch. Painful night

  12. Bilic inherited a defence that had been trained by Fatty and they did ok the first season. That knowledge and training has now evaporated and we don’t know how to defend. I think the biggest problem is the support team including Julian Dicks. They are all just old mates and were appointed for the wrong reasons. We were 0-4 down and Bilic hadn’t changed a thing. He is totally lost at the moment.

  13. Can’t blame it on a dubious penalty , those are given in loads of games during season , some go in your favour and some don’t . Where started to fall apart was when Feghouli missed a sitter . It was our chance to get back into the game and go in all square at half time . But when we fell apart we fell apart big time , too late now and game over 0 3 .
It was very disappointing and very embarrassing . A real lack of fighting spirit that was painful to watch . All we have left for this season is a struggle to keep away from the relegation zone . Hard to see quality players wanting a move to West Ham under these conditions . Keeping faith in Bilic may not be the best way to go . And so then , another massive game comes up. . Crystal Palace , which should never have been a crucial game in the first place . We are awful and the cure is being elusive and hard to find even in this transfer window .
