Pundits expect West ham to lose at Goodison

downloadThree so called football pundits have West Ham down to lose this weekend while the Hammers arch enemy, Mark Lawrenson says a draw is on the cards at Goodison park.

West Ham’s last win at Goodison Park came over 10 years ago on 14th December 2005 when a David Weir own goal together with a Bobby Zamora strike saw off Everton 2-1.  You had to go back another ten years for the previous away win when Tim Breaker scored the only goal on New years day 1994.

redknapp“You have to expect goals here, and plenty of them – Everton bagged another three at Villa on Tuesday night – and I just favour the home side to win a lively game 3-2,” pundit Michael Owen wrote on Colossusbets.com.

Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp  has also backed Everton to pick up all three points from the game against West Ham courtesy of a 2-1 victory.

“West Ham have spent a lot of energy in midweek against Tottenham, brilliant result for them, but I think Everton with Barkley, Lukaku as well, will just edge this one,” said Redknapp on the Sky Sports website.

Paul-Merson-Headshot_3190859Paul Merson also puts the boot in to West Ham chances saying:

“West Ham have now put themselves in with a shout of the top four. Two weeks ago you would have been thinking that West Ham and Everton have both got the FA Cup to play for, which would have made this game at Goodison Park a ‘make sure no one gets injured’ job.”

“But now West Ham have got a chance of getting in the top four, and so this has become a massive game for them. Everton have got Chelsea in the cup next weekend, but I think they are are a good team and at home they can beat anybody, even a strong side going well like West Ham.”

“It does depend on what sort of team turns up, but Everton have been pretty consistent recently and this will be a hard game for West Ham. I do not think there are many harder games than this away from home and West Ham have just had to work very hard for the Tottenham result and they have a big game next weekend at Old Trafford, so I am going to go for a 2-1 Everton win.
MarkLawrenson1BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson is the only pundit to predict a draw for the Hammers

“West Ham’s season keeps getting better and better and I think they are as fit, strong and athletic as any team in the league.” says Lawro

“We know that because they keep coming back in away games when they have been under the cosh, and they have got some unsung players in their squad – Mark Noble never gets the credit he deserves.”

“It is a boost for the Hammers that Diafra Sakho is on his way back to full fitness but they are short of available centre-halves, so losing James Collins to a hamstring injury is a big blow.”

“Despite beating Tottenham on Wednesday, West Ham are not getting any mentions when it comes to the title race. I don’t think they are going to win it but they have put themselves in the frame for the top four.”

“Everton, in contrast, are stuck in mid-table at the moment but they can still climb the table too, and that would certainly help attract players if they look to spend big in the summer. Lawro’s prediction: 1-1″

  1. Well if there is such a thing as a bogey team they’re certainly it. Often thought we’d beat Barca before we beat the Toffees. Ha

    • Haha, yeah you are probably right on the money there.Poxy Everton always seem to find a way to do us.Even if we are 2-0 up they still seem to come back to draw or win.Our games against them have left me with some bad nightmares 😉

  2. Lawro ain’t my arch enemy.Couldn’t give a sh*t what he thinks, why I should. Him,Merse & all the others have been shown to be mugs all season.Though now they do seem to be seeing the light.Charlie Nicholas is our main believer, loves us!

  3. a draw would be a win for us.

  4. I would take the draw at Goodison.Anything from that craphole will be good IMO 😉

  5. 18 games against Everton in all Comps without a win. (we beat them on pens in the Cup, but the record books will shows the game as a draw)

    Last 18 games. WON 0 DRAWN 7 LOST 11

How many times we have led as well, only to go on and give away late goals to draw.lose.

Any kind of result up there would be fantastic. I only ever dread two games each season. Those two games are Everton Home and Away.

When my Old man took me to my first West Ham game over 25 years ago, he guided me through our history and our traditions, what to expect following West Ham. One of the things I recall him in saying was “Son, Two things you need to get used to, we wont win at Anfield and the other is no matter what happens or how well we play, Everton Always find a way to get results of us”

He sure was bang on about Everton, but now we have finally won at Anfield, So lets finally beat Everton again.

    In Slaven we trust.

  6. Our makeshift defense is our problem and our attack is their problem . Looks like a midfield battle will win the day .. Hope Song is up for it .. This game has Draw written all over it .
Either that or the toffees will come to sticky end . Come on you Hammers and chew e’m up.

  7. Song will be on the bench Kevin,
Oxford is the man to change are fortune,a bit of speed and guil will stop Luluka and he is the main problem,as for the midfield they have a hard ( dirty) line in front of there defence
Barkley is a good player there wing backs can cause a lot of problems
They play a bit like the spuds so a 5 man defence with Kouyate again joining could be the way forward,
Just hope we come out with no major injuries

  8. Stinger it all started when Everton were on the ropes when they came to Upton park and won a game they shouldn’t ! From that time on they went on to win the league when mountfield was captain , that’s always stuck in my mind , but tomorrow the tide may turn as I believe we can win anywhere , plus sakho and carol are back , 3-5-2 again please, attack and stifle, 1-2. Lukaku not to score , win double £10 !!!

  9. One thing to remember is that records or dynasties (MU, Liverpool) is they all have to come to an end, even Britain’s losing record at Wimbledon finally ended.
I don’t know whether tomorrow will be another with matches coming so fast. What I do know is this is a better team than any other we have sent there.

  10. I think we’ll do Everton. Easy Peasy.
