Rapid defender hyped for Hammers

Rapid Vienna defender Emanuel Aiwu insists he cannot wait to take on the Hammers in the Europa League again.

The 20-year-old played in the first group stage game between the two sides and is hoping to again be in the side when they take on the Irons on Thursday.

Aiwu is primarily a centre-back but can also play at right-back and has played in every European game for Vienna thus far; the Irons ran out 2-0 winners earlier this campaign.

And he insists that the Austrian club have the talent required to pull off a major scalp.

Rapid are currently rock-bottom of the group and know that they really need to win on Thursday to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout stages, though they need other results to go their way; they are three points behind second-placed Dinamo Zagreb.

He told Kronen Zeitung in Austria: “Sure, there are players who make millions. But that doesn’t make them unbeatable. That’s what you play football for, it’s going to be a nice fight.”

Aiwu is also ready to take the game to the Hammers, revealing that he has an “aggressive” pre-match music playlist to get him in the zone.

He added: “To get me up to temperature, I only have aggressive songs on my match playlist. Eminem and 50 Cent.”
