Niall hands out his marks

Fabianski: The fine save from Sigurdsson’s free kick kept us in the game for a long time 7

Coufal: Getting closer to his first goal, denied by the post today 6

Diop: Decent enough display 6

Dawson: Couldn’t keep up with Calvert-Lewin as he ran in for the goal, at least he didn’t lunge in and pick up another red card 6

Cresswell: Hopefully the injury he picked up is just a dead leg and nothing more serious 6

Lanzini: Another positive showing in the holding midfield role before a muscle strain forced him off. Much missed afterwards 7

Soucek: Struggled once Lanzini went off. Can’t play to his strengths when asked to sit, or to create 5

Fornals: Had to take on a lot of responsibility to cover the centre of midfield and try to unpick the Everton defence 6

Benrahma: Put a clear headed chance over the bar. Turned out to be our best chance of the game. Not the only player to be defended out the game but looked the furthest off the pace 5

Lingard: A frustrated yellow card for dissent rather summed his, and the side’s, afternoon 6

Antonio: Zero opportunities against the blue wall of centre-halves 6

Subs

Bowen: Couldn’t quite contort in mid-air to put Coufal’s shot in after it rebounded off the post. Little impact otherwise 5

Fredericks: Replaced Cresswell. Not much more to add 4

Yarmolenko: Worth throwing on, didn’t do much but was no worse than Benrahma 5

  1. Sorry mate but imo those ratings are a complete joke. Fornals was head and shoulders our best performer yesterday and but for one piece of bad luck when Coufal hit the post and a finish from Benrahma that would have done credit to a kids Under 14 match he would have had two assists,

Don’t know how you can make Fabianski MOTM when, like Pickford, he had very little to do because both defences were largely on top.
