Ratings 2: Irons at Turf Moor

Macca hands out his marks
Fabianski: One fantastic reaction save just before Rodriguez’s wild miss kept us ahead 7
Coufal: I’d love to know how many times he runs up and down the pitch in 90 mins 8
Diop: Struggled with the route one approach from Burnley before the break 6
Dawson: This was right up Dawson’s street – no nonsense stuff 8
Cresswell: A welcome return after injury 7
Lanzini: This was a really impressive display in the middle of the park. Moved the ball on, shuffled side to side, didn’t over-complicate things 9
Soucek: Clumsy challenge conceded the penalty; given a little more freedom with Lanzini behind him 7
Fornals: Outstanding effort, seems to run harder and further every week 8
Lingard: Quieter than of late, but no problem as others stepped up 7
Benrahma: First time he’s shown clear signs of quality – brilliant assist for Antonio to glance home 8
Antonio: Back and seemingly fully match fit from the get-go and back on the scoresheet. Should probably have scored 3 or 4 8
Subs
Bowen: On as a sub for a change, rather than being subbed. Helped see out the PL record win 6

  1. Great ratings, it was West Ham at our best. so happy for Antonio, superb tonight, so happy for Benrahma and most of all so happy for Lanzinii. There is only one word for our no 10, a genius. Welcome back Manuel you have been so missed. I hope you score the goal that gets us into the CL. I also have to praise everyone tonight for a most memorable team performance, Coufal has to be the player of the season. Finally Moyes fair play to you for that team selection – one small comment you have a genius of a player in Lanzini.

  2. Slagged off the boss for selecting 5 defenders against ,Chelsea but over the moon with the positive choices tonight Some of the football played this evening would not have been possible by the team he chose in that previous game.(even without Mikey/

  3. 9 for Lanzini but only 8 for Antonio? Seriously?

  4. Lanzini was remarkable. Benrahma his best yet (Moyes still stated he is a work in progress).
Agree with the ratings. Antonio should have had 4.

  5. Lanzini falling back into a deeper role was the highlight for me tonight. Moyes may have stumbled on another job shift here. He was very tidy, always looking to go forward and you know if he arrived late in the box he has a shot on him. This might be his game now, and I couldn’t be more pleased for him.

  6. Ogbonnas absence weakened the defence and Diop had a couple of moments in the first half but deserves a 7 overall with plenty of good headed clearances.Presumably the 8 for Benni is based on his excellent first half rather than the second half where he reverted to Hollywood shots ?
A strong team performance with some wayward shooting from Ant and Benni denied us a third goal to give us a less nervy final 20 minutes.

  7. Lanzini was a massive hit behind Lingard, Benrahma and Forrnals and later Bowen. This is a very exciting line up, great to watch. Loved the football – Said needs to forget about chasing his first goal and it will happen. Diop and the route one ball can be sorted on the training ground. Go for it lads you deserve it all.

  8. Superb performance..just lack of goals is my only moan as that could of come back to haunt us with a better team …but apart from that outstanding……lanzini benrahama and coufal were simply brilliant …best we have played…..im even happy hugh
    ..😄😄😄👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥂

    • Agree George Green…Diop better than a 6. Hes a young lad, looked a touch nervy first half but dug deep and was solid 2nd half…. 7.5 for me. He showed real character.
Lanzini outstanding. Yes Lingard quiet (compared to recent weeks) but he put an amazing shift in for 90 mins…. this is the fittest I’ve ever seen a hammers side in 46 years of following them.
