Ratings report Part Two Chelsea v Irons

|

ClaretandHugh Facebook forum ratings expert Sergey Novysh hands out his marks

Hart: Produced a few super saves and few decent ones. We need more performances like that. 9

Rice:  Difficult day for our defence overall, but that fella looked good. Nullified Morata on few occasions and stopped few dangerous counter-attacks. 7

Ogbonna: Another solid performance, no silly mistakes 7

Cresswell: Blocked a few shots, looked a little bit lethargic in the first half (just like the rest of the squad) got injured in the second. 5
Zabaleta Tried to press the opposition up the field, but was too slow tracking back AGAIN, allowed Morata a free header from corner-kick and made few other minor mistakes, but also played well on few occasions 5
Kouyate Tried to replicate his performance against Southampton but didn’t succeed against more qualified defence. 5
Noble: Tried his best, produced few good interceptions but had an average game overall. Been awarded a yellow card for a cynical foul on Hazard 5

Masuaku: Produced few decent crosses including, but also made lots of bad mistakes. 5

Fernandes: Been pretty poor and his awful pass almost cost us. 4

Joao Mario: Didn’t have a great game either. Looked a little bit lightweight at times and overplayed with the ball too.

Arnautovic: Seemed to be carrying an injury, but played his part in what could be a vital draw. His skills, desire and football thinking are just marvelous. His pass to Chicho was outstanding. Could have had a penalty at the end, tracked back and helped defense when needed, won a corner in the dying seconds of the match. INCREDIBLE. 9

Defence was good but where oh where was the midfield . All poor and overrun by talented athletes not geriatric nobodies .

When you think about the task they were up against i think the midfield worked hard and coped well. There are not many teams out there who have a midfield that can cope with a front 3 of Morata, Willian & Hazard running through them. Kante is everywhere and Fabregas is firing out the long and short range passes. For what we have left to play with to make up our midfield and defense, i think they deserve a lot of credit yesterday.
    Well done lads, immense performance.

Delighted with the result, but the player rating would have a different feel if the linesman had not been so diligent in his role on the two offside goals…..?

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

I might be wrong but the second offside definitely looked like a goal but then again with VAR we would have had a penalty in the last seconds, certainly don’t blame the ref though I thought it looked like a good tackle and a dive when i saw it in real time.

Fernandes needs someone to get him motivated, he is a world class talent being squandered either by his own lack of effort or being failed by his coaches, literally goes from world beater to panel beater in a couple of weeks, he is young and he will make these mistakes and it is good that he is allowed too but he has to try harder to be involved more during games imho.
