Raul Rumour Recycled

RaulTalksport has recycled a rumour that the Hammers are still targeting Benfica’s Raul Jimenez and should they succeed in luring the Mexico international to the London Stadium, it will pave the way for Gabigol to head to the Portuguese giants.

The 20-year-old frontman is desperate to kickstart his career elsewhere after a forgettable year in Italy and Benfica have already agreed to take him on-loan for the remainder of the current campaign – if they can offload Jimenez.

Benfica need to make cuts to their budget and, according to Record, cannot afford to bring the former Santos man in without first making a sale. Gabigol has found game-time almost impossible at the San Siro and, under new boss Luciano Spalletti, faces another bleak winter if he remains with the Nerrazzuri.

The radio station say both West Ham and Everton hold an interest in Jimenez, but must act quickly with just a couple of days left in the summer transfer window.

The Talksport article was one of two stories linked on the official West Ham site WHUFC.com site yesterday in their media watch feature, the other story was a Mirror piece on William Carvalho

  1. We could really do with a bit of good news could we not. Fingers crossed for a good end to the window.

It may be last night’s little tipple still lifting my spirits but I woke up this morning ready for more bad news, then thought well maybe this year we are getting all the bad stuff out the way. Now that all the pundits have swung round 360 degrees & are predicting Iron Meltdown I think we may just prove them wrong.

But I still want Bilic out! I saw a good bit in the paper yesterday saying the big thing that marks out a good manager is if he gets the best out of his squad. It was being used in relation to Wenger, but I think there are a lot of similarities between 2017 Wenger & Bilic. Players come here & stagnate or get worse. A replacement won’t be easy, but I will be amazed if he turns it around properly. I could se results improving enough for the owners to give him yerpt another chance but it isn’t the answer.

  2. ‘My sources tell me’ this is ‘fake news’ – never heard of him!
