Ray Stewart: Moysie won’t be pushed around by ANYBODY

CandH’s new exclusive blogger Ray Stewart – or ‘Tonka’ as most of us know him – reckons David Moyes can turn the club into a regularly high flying outfit and makes it clear in his latest piece that he will do things his way with no pushing around from anywhere. In this piece, he discusses where he believes his pal can take the Irons.

I’ve know Moysie a lot of years. Of course, he’s a fellow Scot which helps of course and therefore a guy who takes no messing from anywhere! When fans are crying out for huge money signings they are screaming out to the wrong bloke. He knows where to go and while big names are all well and good Moysie’s tend to be under the radar types who go onto to make their reputations under him.

Look at his first three for the Irons – Jarrod Bowen, who is a fine player now and gonna get better, Tomas Soucek and Coufal, who are tremendous players. Three big successes from his first three signings ain’t bad and trust me they would have been his signings – nobody’s else’s. There’s no point in trying to tell David who and who not to buy.

I don’t take too much notice of how much players cost – those three cost around £40 million which is around £5 million less than Seb Haller – we’ll leave it there. Moysie knows a player when he sees one regardless of the fee attached. They have all settled in brilliantly and brought such energy to the team so quickly and that speaks well of what will come later for the club under DM.

He is so thorough before spending club money – it was the same at Everton. He always watches a player himself after listening to his scouting staff and that’s something else he will put in place this summer I reckon.

In some respects, I wish he had kept Robert Snodgrass at the club. Ok, there may be a bit of the Scottish thing in there but I know how much Snoddy loved the club and I reckon he still had something to offer. But David was happy to let him leave and you have to trust the man.

He’s also got Declan at the club – a fabulous young player who can become a real Hammers legend and like everybody else I want him to stay at the club and leads us into European football which I believe is more than possible under the boss.

Right now, there’s no need for him to go anywhere because I believe the Hammers are on their way to becoming a top team.
