TalkSport radio presenter and former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has sensationally suggested that West Ham should consider reappointing former manager David Moyes.

To be fair to Jordan, he’s consistently been an advocate of Moyes’ qualities, spending most of last season warning of the perils of not giving the Scotsman a new deal.

West Ham’s 0-0 draw with Everton was a missed opportunity for Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui to shake off pressure ahead of two much tougher games against Newcastle and Arsenal.

Failing to beat Sean Dyche’s struggling Toffees has intensified speculation about Lopetegui’s future, with the international break allowing people to take stock of the Premier League standings.

The Irons sit 14th in the EPL, and unless we see unexpected results in the next two fixtures, a slip closer to the relegation zone looms.

Jordan, noting West Ham’s recent form, remarked, “If you have a team that needs fixing at the bottom, it’s David Moyes you want. I did say last year that West Ham should have given David a new contract.”

David Sullivan rehiring Moyes for a third time would seem unlikely and an ultimate admission of failure. However, unless Lopetegui picks up points soon, calls for Moyes’ return amongst his supporters in the media will only grow.

Moyes had great success with us. Saved us from relegation twice followed by lifting us into a team with an amazing European record over three years. Including the trophy. But taking him back a third time would probably be a mistake as he wouldn’t have the support from the people who wanted him out and a manager has to have the fans behind him otherwise it’s a real struggle.

After Moyes signed Bowen , Soucek and Coufal his transfer dealings were absolute rubbish as we can all remember . He had options on top strikers e.t.c. but refused Steidten’s picks and consequently was left with a bunch of broken old donkeys incapable of defending or attacking . Moyes was NOT fired , his contract ended as scheduled . Small team tactics are Moyes’s M.O. , so he’s fine as a relegation manager . To compete near the top a managers tactics must evolve , even Pep Guardiola is struggling as he hasn’t properly updated his tactics . There are some decent cheap coach options right now if Sullivan can accept his Lopetegui appointment was a mistake .

I’d love to see Moyes actually get a managers job at another premier league side like wolves and hope they go down so we can put this disastrous ghost firmly in our past.

Just checked my calendar to make sure it wasn’t April 1st 🤦‍♂️

Moyes is the reason we had an ageing squad with some bang average players that were as mobile as Zouma ffs!

Not only was the football atrocious under Moyes, so was his recruitment.

Letting in 70+ goals for a defensive coach is shocking!

    Hard NO.

Has everyone forgotten that last season’s horrorfest vs Everton was a 1-0 loss… under the Moyesaurus…

  • Darkhorse says:

The last thing we need is Moyes. I’ve supported the team since the sixties and have never been good at defending. Instead of putting so much emphasis on defenders ,all efforts should have been made to sign at least two strikers.

Anything from Talk Sport about West Ham is only said to spark a reaction.
Hawksby and Jacobs used to be funny and worth a listen about 10 years ago but like Moyes, Talk Sport has long had its day and its pitiful how they are struggling to stay relevant.

The sooner a Saudi or Turkish club gives Moyes a manager’s job the better for us suffering Hammers fans. It would get him out of the way for a while and all his mates in the media would have to put a cork in it!

  • John Ayris says:

Both recruitment and lack of recruitment under Moyes is to a large extent responsible for where we are now. We should never have been needing to bring in as many players as we did in the Summer window. Too many to integrate in too short a time would have been an impediment to whoever was the manager, and intensive recruitment hardly allowed Steidten to pearl dive as he needed to bring people in as a matter of urgency. I do not think that Lopetegui was the right appointment on top of that…

    • Phil says:

Spot on John !! Moyes is to blame but Managerial wise Sullivan needed to pay the money for a quality replacement !

      • Matt says:

That quality manager is there for us to lure and attain if pay his release clause👇

Palace will be looking for a new manager soon. Maybe Jordan can put a word in for his mate Moyes.

    • Matt says:

Jordan still loves Palace so won’t want Moyes rocking up and the Eagles going down. Simon also has a very well known dislike for Sullivan so makes sense he is suggesting we rehire Moyes.
