At a time when Tony Carr and Patsy Holland are supporting the restoration of age and disability price concessions at the London Stadium, it seemed an odd time to reveal the colour coding of season tickets.
Not that there is anything wrong with making it easier for supporters to navigate their way around the ground, but it seems oddly timed given the bigger issues at hand.
With concession ticket pricing still very much the elephant in the room, West Ham should be prioritising cheaper tickets for the young and elderly without them having to scale the dizzying heights of Row Z in the cavernous former Olympic stadium.
The campaign for the reinstatement of affordable and reasonable ticketing for concessions continues to be pushed by Hammers United. However, it is somewhat frustrating to see the club tinkering with the colours of the seat covers when the engine needs sorting.
Tony Carr is the latest to have his say on the shameful ticketing policy of the club:
“There are no supporters more loyal than those of West Ham United.
The club could have chosen to reward this loyalty and encourage future generations of new fans, but instead, by removing concessions for our older, younger and disabled supporters, the club’s decision shows a clear disregard for the fans who have remained loyal through generations, standing by through every high and low.
This move risks not only alienating those dedicated supporters but also jeopardising the tradition of loyalty being passed down to future generations.”
It really hits home when West Ham’s ticketing policy is so bad that club legends and fans of rival clubs group together to criticise a policy which seems to value tourism ahead of the loyal fanbase.
Define tourism. I am a long-standing die-hard fan who now lives in the US. I am a fully paid up claret member and long for seats when I am over in the UK to watch my beloved team. These are hard to come by. Sometimes it means going onto secondary sites… but I am not a tourist!
In my eyes Tourists are the people from foreign countries who don’t necessarily support or are fans of West Ham but just want to experience a premier league game no matter who is playing. An American cousin who is a visiting fan from over the pond is a different thing entirely.
Sullivan doesn’t care about the west ham fans ! All he’s interested in is money in his pocket.West ham were linked with all and sundry as usual in the winter transfer window. And we didn’t buy anyone, now we are hearing that potter will have to sell kudus or others to be able to buy anyone in the summer? West ham fans have had enough of Sullivan and Brady living the high life, when the hard working East Enders are being discriminated against and treated with no respect! It’s disgusting that Sullivan flaunts his wealth and his yacht, but bites the hand that’s fed him all these years! I can’t see west ham achieving anything until Sullivan and Brady stand down. The club needs to be run professionally and we need to buy young hungry players to rebuild our team.COYI
Well said 👏👏👏⚒
