Redknapp jnr sets Hammers up for Rice battle

The Redknapps are pretty good at upsetting the Hammers apple cart – or trying to – when they get the opportunity!

Harry has long since disappeared over the horizon but has had plenty to say about things in the past – notably over the sacking of his mate Slaven Bilic.

But this time around it’s son Jamie who has made sure that he has caused waves by seemingly attempting to put the Hammers big discovery Declan Rice up for sale.

Speaking to the Daily Mail website he declared: “It is ridiculous that it is possible to win Young Player of the Year aged 24.

“The award should be given to the best player under 20 β€” and with that criterion Declan Rice would be a serious contender.”

And he added: β€œThis kid is the next John Terry. At 19 he plays with maturity, is unbelievably brave and comfortable on the ball.

“Rice capped a fine week, in which he was man of the match on his Republic of Ireland debut against Turkey, with an assured display against Southampton. This summer I have little doubt that West Ham will be fighting off bids for their young star.”
