Reid at last chance saloon

Winston Reid must now be at his last chance saloon!  Manuel Pellegrini has revealed yet another scheduled come back, this time playing for the Hammers Under 23’s next Monday night but I am afraid we have heard it all before and many are now writing off the player as a lost cause.

The 31-year-old suffered a serious knee injury which required an operation and lengthy recovery time last season but despite being included in pre-season training he broke down again before the Premier League kicked off.

Some have asked whether he can ever be the same player again after such a lengthy lay off and whether he could fight his way back into the first team.

Unbelievably the centre back has a contract with West Ham for another three and a half years to take him to the summer of 2023.

Reid committed his long term future to the club in 2017 a year before his devasting injury but Pellegrini has since signed Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena with Angelo Ogbonna returning to form.  I hope I am  proved wrong but unfortunately I think we have already seen the last of Winston Reid Premier League playing days for West Ham.
