“It was a red card. He elbowed me right in the face’

|

This video shows Bastian Schweinsteiger hit Winston Reid with his forearm in the neck.

Winston Reid later said: “‘It was a red card, he knows what he’s done – he’s elbowed me in the face. The referee couldn’t see it, so we move on”

Slaven Bilic spoke to the officials as they went in at the interval, claiming that it was ‘a big-time red card’

Bilic accepted that Clattenburg was unsighted, saying: ‘It was a moment of madness and he deserved to be sent off, but it’s impossible for the ref to see everything. No matter how many referees you have, sometimes they can’t see”

Manchester United were lucky to keep 11 men on the pitch. Reid shows what a gentleman he is by shaking Schweinsteiger hand after the incident.
