Famously laid-back Winston Reid rarely gets upset but has made it clear the West Ham players need to wake up quickly after ‘probably our worst performance collectively in a very, very long time’.
After the shock of the Bournemouth result he declared: “We just made some really, really bad mistakes.”
Speaking to London24.com he added: “It is not fair to single anyone out; every one of us had a loose pass at the back, whereas normally we are a lot tighter. If you look at it, it is by far our worst game.”
He added: “I think we trained really well during the week but he said:We prepared as well as we could, but obviously it didn’t work.”
Reid moving from the left side of defence to the right to cater for Ogbonna’s arrival has been offered as a reason for the problems but he said: “I play where the manager wants me obviously.
“It is true I have played on the left for the majority of my career here, but I started playing on the right because Angelo has a left foot. I don’t really think it affects me, but it might just look that way.”
“The manager didn’t actually say a lot at half time, we were just talking amongst ourselves and we said that we needed to perform a lot, lot better. “We turned the game around in those first 10 minutes, but that doesn’t mean much when you don’t win the game.
“I absolutely expected us to win at 2-2, 100 per cent, but that doesn’t mean much when you go and concede another and then a fourth as well as a red card, it means nothing.
“We need more discipline from everybody, not singling anyone out, it is everybody.”
