Reid value dropping in “will he won’t he ” saga

winston-reid-west-ham-united_3009997West Ham are in serious danger of losing Winston Reid for next to nothing with the  “will he wont he sign” saga looking set to go down to the wire!

There has been much posturing on both sides as the situation drags on and with the stand-off continuing there fears are emerging that he will allow himself to become a free agent next summer.

And if that turns out to be the case the Irons are certain to place him on the transfer list in the next window although a player with around six months left on his deal will not command a great fee.

ClaretandHugh has had it categorically confirmed that the offer made to Reid is indeed of £60k a week and that although it was made several weeks ago, there has still been no response whatsoever.

We reported earlier this week that the club were ready to play a ‘long game’ with the player but  they are very much on the back foot..

It may well be Reid and his advisers – with an offer on the table – are now ready to wait and see what else emerges leaving the Hammers powerless.

A source told us: “It’s not a great position – of course it’s not. We all know Winston’s abilities and we continue to look at his current form.

“But obviously the offer is out there and if it’s rejected we would need to put him on the transfer list.”

As we suggested in an earlier story this week the Hammers would be ready to get into another round of talks but our source said: “We still await an answer from Winston’s people.”

  1. No one like being held to ransom but will we get abetter number 5 for nothing and only pay 70k per week,Micah Richards would not come for less than 70k and spends most of the season with injury all the good number 5 will cost the same wage or more plus we will need 7 to 10 million to buy, that means at the moment he is a bargain or we go with our youth players Burke and Oxford and don’t moan when they struggle being so young,my opinion is let not set a new president and go with youth backing up ginger and Hawkins we can always put kotoute back there or song if things go wrong

  2. Unless he pulls his finger out I very much doubt a bigger club will look at him . I think we may need to drop him anyway , if we do I don’t think he will get a very big pay day then .When I went last I was thinking we’d better get another centre back in .
