Relegation could cost David Moyes big

Relegation for West Ham would cost David Moyes millions. His 18 month contract is reported to be heavily incentivised on West Ham’s survival in the Premier League.

A Daily Mail report on New Years Eve last year suggested is basic wage is just £1m for his first six months in charge with a further £2 million basic wage for his final twelve months in charge.  His package is said to include a £2 million survival bonus meaning he will pocket another £2 million this season for keeping the Hammers in the Premier League.

While there is no relegation or particular exit clause for the 56-year-old manager he would lose the chance of a £2 million bonus in the Championship next season if the Hammers are relegated meaning it could cost the owners as little as £2 million to buy him out of his remaining contract should they want to dispense with his services in the summer.

  1. If Moyes continues to select perpetual failures Masuaku & Noble he deservesto lose his job!

    • You are stating Nobes as an everlasting failure. Sometimes I wish we could sack some fans. You, and others, are seemingly entitled brats (I’m likely way younger than you btw). Sack the players, sack the manager, sack the board. Then again, there would be little left for you to complain about – thusbthe meaning of life would dissappear with them. You type fans are walking oxymorons and we would all be better without. Get behind the team or don’t, either way get out of the way.

  2. It’s Thursday morning. David walks into the training ground and gathers his squad around him.

“Reet, ye bunch of scrawny bairns, last neet was a disaster, and it’s on me.”

Heads raise from the floor and everyone looks at their manager with a degree of surprise and a little optimism. Felipe follows suit after his interpretor delivers the news in Portuguese.

“If we’re going te go dooon, we’re gonna go dooon fighting!”

A murmur of excitement fills the dressing room. Even Issa manages a tiny smile.

“We’re gonna get oot there and give our fans something to shooot abooot, with an attacking… yeah, I said attacking… lineup against the bun duppers!”

£100 million of attacking talent share high-fives and weird handshake routines that only footballers know…

“Fab, you’re in goal. Ye medal for saving us so many times this season is in the post!”

“Zaba, ye goin’ te have to step up, big man, while Freddie gets is arm sorted. Issa and Oggie – ye doin’ alright, but we’re gonna work with the waist rope to ensure ye stay tighter together. Cressie, it’s time to help us do one over ye boyhood club and smash in some decent crosses, lad”

“Mark, I need ye te take one for the team and sit this one ooot. We’re going with a midfield four of Felipe, Soucek, Dec and Antonio”.

Manuel looks at Pablo and they sigh, but David is soon over to wrap an arm around them.

“Listen lads; Manuel, you’ve been a bit off it lad, but ye time will come. Pablo, I’ve been a wee bit tough on ye, for no apparent reason, but I rate you lad”

“Seb, ye need to put a shift in lad. This isn’t Germany! Chin up, I’m gonna give ye the strike partner I’ve always known you’ve desperately needed. Bowen – get over here lad! You two are going te save me my job.”

The sun breaks through the constant grey and the light shines on a new dawn of fight.

    (I’m here all week).

  3. It will cost the owners a lot more! Because the ” football half and half scarff tourists won’t be there next season ” and as for us through ‘thick and thin ‘supporters? That Some are already creating unrest in certain quarters and I would go so far as to say that some of them will not turn up and pack it all in has to having no connection to the new brand of Lady Brady and her flag waving antics and the popcorn munching new supporters who of course will desert in droves with no glamour teams coming!!! Of course real supporters will stick by the Hammers but its getting increasingly hard to surport the identity of a club that has gone through a massive culture change in the type of audience it was trying to attract to those from the past who want to be still apart of old traditions and have surported the team through thick and thin in days gone bye , time will tell I’m guessing but if we go down God forbid the owners will have to have a lot more kids for quid matches just to get some supporters in that vast bowl if watching matches on sky championship is anything to go by with the masses of empty seats?? So no pressure Mr Moyes but times running out and your saying “I’m hear because I win games ” so far has produced 2 wins and one of them was in the cup to team in a lower league?? If you read these blogs? You better get a move on Mr Moyes???

  4. Sullivan’s decision to put Moyes in charge again was always gonna be a disaster waiting to happen. He never was gonna be a good fit at West Ham and he’s doing himself no favours in staying. Did he truly think he could stop a talented and quick City team from scoring? Please explain to me the reasoning behind playing Noble and Masuaku and why have 3 strikers sitting on the bench if you were not going to use them.On top of that he leaves Fornals out completely, when he works harder than most.Well David Moyes that disaster has happened and I’m so sorry you are gonna miss out on millions in bonus’s but it’s down to you.

  5. Doesn’t look like he is serious to even acquire this lucrative package with his ridiculous team selection and substitutions. Come on Noyes get serious and get us out of the death zone.

  6. he must have enough money already , so our trip to the championship wont bother him to much. . Ironical we may be relegated and Sheffield possibly into europe Tevez pay back time.

  7. He hasn’t picked the player who was starting to tick we haven’t got Time to mess about he’s got to drop noble to the bench we are so negative we deserve to go down

  8. Will cost Moyes millions you mean

  9. Get rid of him ( Moyes) bad choices bad tactics… get rid of the board.. let’s face it the only way we will stay up is if Man City get chucked out the premier league and they will probably buy their way out of that situation. The owners have brought badly since day 1 and wasted a lot of money. The club needs to start again from scratch, new owners… new Training facilities or revamped… most of the squad bar 4-5 of them should go… we need to buy the LS stadium and redesign to our football needs. Next level ain’t just about top six it’s about progress of the club comparing us to the top 20 teams in the world. Frankly and honestly we are nowhere near that level and are many years away from that level unless we get new owners and a manager with fresh ideas. I once saw a interview on sky sports when g/s owned Birmingham and gold was being interviewed and he said that if the Birmingham supporters don’t want us here we will sell up because we don’t want to be somewhere where we are not wanted. Well clearly mr gold and mr Sullivan you are not wanted at West Ham so why don’t you sell up and do the right thing for the club you apparently love. Sorry for the rant but all this mess is down to the three people at the top.
