Everything spoken coming out of West Ham right now is positive: Despite the ‘setback’ – rather than full on ‘disaster’ of losing Crysencio Summerville for a couple of games – the Hammers are up for the fight with a genuine esprit de corps that is more reminiscent of a ‘band of brothers’ type mentality.
No longer even some carefully orchestrated scripted stage management, players, most supporters and management genuinely ‘believe’.
The eruption of joy at overcoming Brentford after the penalty shoot out – encapsulated in one photo – sums up the mood, the spirit, the positivity and of course the enthusiasm for the battle ahead.
You can see it the main image: It translates into how the team plays, how they train and even how the fans respond. Hope and positivity is everywhere. Take Tomas Soucek’s words yesterday :
“We are so happy with how we’ve been doing in the last few games in the Premier League, and we wanted to continue the momentum as well as give the fans some nice moments.”
Rather like Spring, optimism is bursting out everywhere.
Unless you happen to be a Tottenham fan. Not only are their team in the midst of a form slump, with their lack of a win now in its third month, but after their 5-2 Champions League humbling came the news that defensive duo Pahlina and captain Romero are now likely to be missing at at Anfield under concussion protocol.
Keep at it, Igor, there’s a good man. We’re loving it.
Lame duck Spurs manager Igor Tudor surely sets the tone for his team to struggle (whilst displaying truly terrible ‘leadership‘) with his pronouncement as per the standard.co.uk:
“Sometimes it is difficult to explain. It looks like everything is against us. Incredible things,”
From West Ham’s view point, the longer Tudor stays in office, the better the Irons’ chances of survival. Tottenham are just one point ahead of West Ham with nine games to go and his awful pronouncements that the world is against him and his side contrast totally with Nuno’s upbeat, positive, confident predictions that his side will escape.
After all, it all stems from the top and we sincerely hope he keeps his job until the bitter end of the season once his kamikaze-like management has completed the job and condemned the North London side to Championship football.

The last thing anyone should be doing is publicly raising the issue of the hapless Tudor. It seemed a catastrophic choice at the time, just as with Pereira replacing Dyche at Forest. Enjoy the capitulation by all means, but let’s do it quietly from a distance. That way more attention won’t be directed his way and his process of demolishing their season can continue unabated. The more audible attention we pay, the more likelihood there is of senior figures in the Spurs heirarchy catching on to his abject Mr Bean type management and doing something about rectifying it.

If we stay up, I sincerely hope Nuno has found his home. I love the guy, I think he’s very positive and the players in the 1st team obviously respond and get on well with him. And I think a lot of that has to do with the appointment of Paco Jémez. If we can keep those two together for a few years then who knows. Maybe we can qualify for European football again.
He never did seem to be the right appointment, what on Earth were they thinking. A Lopetegui type appointment where not a soul thought him to be the right man.
Other boards can get thing as wrong as ours can.
Postecoglou and Frank shouldn’t have proven as bad as they turned out to be, there’s something very wrong at Tottenham.
