FOR those of you who don’t have the luxury off watching the live broadcasts on SKY this afternoon, a game of drama and a familiar eleven minutes’ of added time unfolded as West Ham’s relegation rivals went down 10- to the black Cats at the stadium of light this afternoon and are now proud holders of West Ham’s recently vacated 18th position, within the relegation zone and winless in fourteen games this year.

De Zerbi’s ‘new manager bounce’ looks more like a ‘dead cat bounce’ as the Spurs’ captain Christian Romero left the field in floods of tears after a collision with his own goal keeper.

It was not a good look for Tottenham and one which summed up their afternoon.

As described by si.com;

“De Zerbi’s side toiled on Wearside and were ultimately beaten by the cruelest of deflections that typified their luck this season. Sunday’s performance will raise more questions about the Italian’s ability to oversee a drastic alteration of fortunes in north London, with their defeat at the Stadium of Light meaning Spurs are now winless in 14 Premier League games.

The situation is dire, but their relegation rivals remain in sight.”

What the report failed to mention is that OPTA now make Spurs favourites to be relegated with a 41% chance whilst West Ham – sitting two points clear – have a 36% chance -meaning 64% probability of avoiding relegation. A Far cry from Christmas when the Hammers looked doomed.

West Ham now travel to Crystal Palace a week tomorrow whilst Tottenham take on De Zerbi’s former club Brighton: It’s going to be a long week.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

    That OPTA Super Computer is rubbish. Whichever team is in 18th position at the time of their mysterious ‘compute’ is always the one it says will be relegated. Anyone of us can come up with that kind of brilliance. What a load of b*******s!

    Let’s not forgot Palace play in Italy on Thursday night .
    Yes they are 3-0 up but they have a one off chance of winning a European trophy so will be playing their full team …
    It must help us I believe .

    I think we are so much better than we were around December/Jan but we got 1 point out of a potential 18 around then. So I won’t get too cocky. That said I think we will stay up and it will be between Spurs and Leeds as to who faces the drop

    Brighton are top of the last six played form table, Tottenham are bottom, form suggests only the one winner.

    Palace are 7th, we’re 11th, we’ll have our work cut out.

    Forest and Leeds both below us at 14th and 17th respectively.
