West Ham forward Michail Antonio is growing stronger each day and is determined to be available for selection for the Hammers before the end of the season.

That’s the good news that will have all West Ham fans buzzing following his horrific car crash, which had many fearing the worst.

Most of us were simply relieved that he survived the incident and made it home for Christmas. But never in my wildest dreams did I think he would be available to play this season – yet that now appears to be exactly what will happen according to the latest reports.

Claret & Hugh spoke to a top club source last night who confirmed that Antonio is ahead of schedule following rehabilitation work in Dubai. Our top man inside the London Stadium said: “We expect him to play some minutes before the end of the season, but it’s months rather than weeks.”

It really is incredible news. Those who have seen Mikey in the gym have reported how astonished they are at his progress. Antonio is said to be incredibly driven and determined to pull on the West Ham shirt again before the end of the season. Remarkable

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Maybe he could spend part of his rehabilitation period learning how to drive.

It’s costing the club millions to keep paying him for his stupid, self-inflicted injury.

It’s good to see Antonio’s progress ahead of schedule and I wish him well in his recovery. But let’s be realistic he will be 35 next month and surely his contract can’t be extended for another year. We need young technically gifted players who will have high resale value to fit the Potter player profile, and sadly Micky just doesn’t fit any of that description. He’s had a great career with West Ham but it’s time to move on
