Tomas Soucek is thirty years old tomorrow. The much – loved (by most of the fan base anyway ) Hammer celebrated with an interview in Czech media in which he admitted he’s planning for the future and life after West Ham: Having been at the club for five years he has been quoted as describing this as his second home.

Representing some of the best sixteen million euros West Ham have spent, Soucek admits he isn’t planning on quitting any time soon, but has revealed his future plan will still be within football – he’d like to buy a Czech lower tier club himself in a kind of real-life PS football-manager scenario. Reported in sportwitness.co.uk, Tornado Tom admits that the allure of staying in football in the country of his birth may prove too tempting:

“He’s already got his eye on life after the game, and admitted he is considering investing in a football club back in his nature Czech Republic’.

As Soucek says: “The possibility is there, but I’m putting it off for a few years now. I’m talking about it now with Jiri, rather friendly, what it would be like to play the real Football Manager. I think my name could help me with sponsors, for example with Viktorka, who are in Prague. I also watch the third leagues, where I know some faces I’ve played with.”

237 Hammers appearances, 37 goals and 12 assists – and counting – plus of course one very special trophy – means he will always be regarded with great affection by fans at West Ham. Reassuring to know, though, that Soucek still feels at thirty that he’s plenty of years left on the pitch at London Stadium. Thirty – even for a professional footballer, is too young to think about retirement: Just ask Michail Antonio!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

One of my favourite West Ham players of all time.

As a detractor, he is a really nice bloke and whole hearted trier – but to be a Premier League quality midfield player you have to be able to do something between the two penalty areas – Thomas can’t/doesn’t

I think he has been massive for our club, a true warrior, hopefully for a few more seasons, some of the other recent imports are not in that category.

Tomas does have his detractors amongst the fans, but Moyes, J-Lo, Potter – if he’s fit, he plays. Keep going Tomas!
