West Ham have been linked with a move to sign Arthur Theate from Serie A club Bologna.

A new report from Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the central defender could become a target for the Irons.

We know that the Hammers are interested in a deal to sign Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, and are progressing talks to that end.

But it appears that Theate could also be an option.

Bologna are open to letting the centre-back leave the club and there is said to be interest from the Hammers, who are lining up a number of targets ahead of the summer.

Theate would only cost around £8m so he may well be seen as a back-up option in case a deal for Aguerd fails to go through.

It seems like the deal could well be done if the Irons are actually interested, because the Italian club are not set to stand in his way.
