Report: Arsenal favourites to beat Hammers to striker

Arsenal are reportedly the new favourites to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, with Mikel Arteta looking to wrap up a loan deal.

According to a report in the The Sun newspaper Chelsea are prepared to let Abraham join the Gunners on loan this season if a £40million obligation-to-buy clause is included in the deal.

The Daily Mail says Abraham is understood to have sentimental feelings towards Arsenal, having grown up supporting the club and idolizing Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

West Ham have been exploring options to sign him permanently but Chelsea’s £40m valuation has proven to be a sticking point, with David Moyes publicly confirming a price tag of that amount would rule the Hammers out. The West Ham manager is said to believe a valuation of £30m is more realistic.

Arsenal would likely all of his £82,000 per week wages to sign him on loan plus a sizeable loan fee, the obligation to buy would most likely be based on appearances.

  1. Moyes is right.30 mill absolute tops-on a bad day.

  2. Haller?

  3. Tammy looks more like a fit into an Arsenal type. Not really a West Ham target. Let the Gooner go home!
    COYI

  4. He’s not the type of striker we want and at anything over £25kk he’s really not the striker we want.

  5. Here we go again!
Protect the board at all costs.
Of course it’s Moyes valuation which means the deal won’t happen, nothing to do with the fact the board won’t give Moyes the money.
If we miss out on Tammy, it means that GSB have missed out on Moyes top 3 targets in 2 years.

  6. He’s not the right man for us, decent enough, but needs a possession based team to thrive.
We’re a defensive, counter attack team nowadays so we require a strong hold up play type of player similar in to Antonio.
