Report: Battle hots up for Hammers midfielder

|

Grady Diangana is reported this morning as attracting attention from  Premier league outfits Southampton, Palace and Leicester City as well as his loan club West Brom.

David Moyes looks certain to have a decision to make on the wide man as there now seems little question that the Academy-bred youngster will probably be at the centre of a battle from clubs should there be any willingness to let him leave.

Should the report  prove correct the manager will have to decide on accepting some cash for other targets or sticking with a player who clearly has potential to make it to the top of his profession.

He will go into next season off the back of an inspired loan spell at West Brom where he scored eight goals and contributed six assists as the Baggies sealed automatic-promotion.

The Sunday People (9/8; page 61) reports the 22 year old could end up with four clubs after him which would certainly hoist his price towards the £20 million mark.

Can you imagining letting him go to a premier league team, and he becomes a world beater? I couldn’t stand that, we need to keep him.

  • Russell Burke says:

Still early in the window but don’t want to see Moyes do a Pellegrini in getting all his deals done early-look where that left us. I’m still of the opinion of letting him out on loan for another season but only atm. Having said that Moyes gave up his hols so there might be something happening this week. Watch this space.

Agree with the earlier comments. We’re looking for young talented players that have proved themselves in the championship. Diangana is an extremely talented player that’s only going to get better. He played on the left for West Brom. We only really have Anderson as a left winger, and Diangana looks already to be a more talented and hungrier player. We can’t let him go. Even at £20 million he will be worth north of £35 million in a few years time

  • Dave says:

What message would this send to the other academy prospects?
If you have a good season West Ham will cash in on you.
Just goes against everything they say they are trying to build.
Probably his agent realising he short changed himself when agreeing a 5 year deal last year and doing his utmost to get bids from clubs through the media to broke a new package for himself ( oh and the player!)

  • hammers64 says:

Why on Earth would we want to sell him.?.Surely the fact that these clubs are after him should alert some at West Ham to the fact that he might be rather good and should be kept and incorporated into next seasons squad.

  • Hammerkip says:

Now this is one thing that makes me think the board like winding the fans up….WHY on earth would you send a promising player to another club to get games ,he then has great season wich is great for us ,he,s young hungry and he is our player..a few clubs want him ,,prem clubs included and we are hearing stories we might sell…..is that the dumbest fking thing you have ever heard,,,, if this happens there will alot of angry fans ….the constant stupid situation this club gets in never seases to amaze me …🤣🤣🤣👏

  • Lyonzee says:

So we’re after young hungry players from the championship, the trouble is so is every other club and if their good they cost a lot of money. Well I’ve heard there is such a player, a winger with plenty of energy, determination and no shortage of skill who apparently tore up the championship this season scoring goals and adding assists – and here’s the thing, the beauty of it he won’t cost us a penny, lol

  • Kent-iron says:

No way you can’t sell the lad or Rice either.!!!

  • The Cat says:

    WHY???

If we feel that we have to sell Grady……. a player with the world at his feet!
We might as well give up right now. This would be a Massive negative for the whole club and send a message to just about everyone…
That Leopards Can’t change their spots and that we will Remain the selling club without ambition… that we pretend not to be!

    • Hammerkip says:

      Spot on

    • Mikey says:

Agreed. If we sell Diangana what’s the message for every member of the U23, and U18 teams? And the fans, who I think really would prefer to see Academy players achieve success at West Ham. We should have Diangana pushing Bowen for a spot on the right wing, and Holland pushing Fornals on the left. Say bye bye to Lanzini, Yarmolenko, Masuaku, and Balbuena. And give Andersen the chance to compete with Noble and Wilshire for a spot at Number 10. Spend all the funds we have on the defence, Cos we need to be better at the back.

      • Chunk says:

I believe Grady is a left sided player and Holland a right side. Apologise if i’m wrong. Would have Grady on left. Bowen on right and Antonio behind a striker. But allow the 3 to change round as they see fit. If Holland can play both sides then perfect addition coming off the bench to start with.
