Report: Benrahma deal in danger of collapse

Said Benrahma’s £25million move from  Brentford is in danger of collapse according to Daily Mirror journalist Darren Lewis.

This corresponds with the situation brought to ClaretandHugh readers and the same line has now been tweeted by Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg who claimed the deal is in danger of collapsing within the last hour

Lewis claims Winger Benrahma, who scored 17 goals in 43 appearances last season, is alleged to have  fallen out with Brentford over what are understood to be ‘broken promises’.

The 25-year-old made contact with Bees Director of Football Phil Giles over the weekend to make his position clear.

The report says the Hammers had already agreed a deal worth £17million guaranteed and £8milion in add-ons with the Championship side. A medical has been set for tomorrow but the deal appears to be off says Lewis.

Benrahma is in Holland on International duty with Algeria and due to play Mexico tomorrow at the Kyocera Stadium in Hague in an international friendly.

He has yet to agree personal terms with the Hammers but he is understood to want a five-year contract with significant pay rise on current basic plus appearance bonuses and other add-ons.

Benrahma will be released from international duty after Tuesday. Will Salthouse remains involved in the deal despite Benrahma recently changing agents.

  1. Are we being mugged off again? He wants a five year bonanza deal but has never played Premier football? He’s not a centre forward he’s an Anderson – what’s going on?

  2. Supposedly Moyes would prefer King as opposed to Benrahma. One is 24 the other is 28. King has made it clear that he is too good for West Ham so went get him. Benrahma was supposedly had an offer accepted, but wants a long contract and inflated wages. So without help from Sullivan who do we sign? Dawson £3m, Manning £5m and Deeney who wouldn’t come to West Ham anyway.Same old, Same old. And yes I’m moaning. Seen this scenario too many times before.

  3. Typical West ham, linked with best players about, offer. Submitted ,then it breaks down. We sign Craig Dawson and Troy Deeney. Good to see owners backing the manager to the best young talent available.

  4. So I guess that deal’s off, King will then turn us down and we’ll get Dawson on a free. I can hear the excuses already. Very successful window for the board.

  5. Typical Sullivan, teasing the fans with a world class signing, getting their hopes up then pulling the rug from under it when it comes to time to cough up and trying to deflect the blame onto the manager, the agent, anyone apart from himself. Fed up with it.

    • Can’t all be wrong on these comments seen it all before and if true we all need to get this board out ASP. We have a great deal for benrahma 25 and should get a top centre back and left back. We are ok for forwards strikers with Antonio and haller and others chipping in from sou and Bowen. But we’re seeing Dawson the snail 30 and deeney with a with a 28yr old king no sell on and overpriced being the target if true I give up .

  6. On the pitch we are exciting to watch, we have the ability to beat any team and we have a pretty strong coaching set up. I wonder if Moysey will organise match days as one coach in the stands, one coach at home watching on the screen and one coach on the touchline. Great way to see the whole game as has been proven. I’d actually go for this way of playing football forever if it means we win games and play well. As for the transfer saga’s that have hampered WHU this summer, it’s actually pathetic that it’s come to this lad and Dawson being the main players chased. Not impressed. I really have no interest in the main shareholder any longer – he is a hindrance. Another reason Moysey deserves all the respect and backing of all real fans who want success. On another story that I find alleviates the mood and brings forth several chuckles – Xavi reckons Jack Wilshere would be the best player in Scotland if he teamed up with Steven Gerrard at Rangers. That really has made my day – at least we’re not stuck with this waste of space and with any luck I wont have to see his mug on any WHU news site ever again! BEST PLAYER IN SCOTLAND!!! hahahahahahahaha Oh thanks Xavi…looking forward to your stand up routine at the London Palladium next year!

  7. why oh why do you fans believe everything that’s either paper talk or that radio station I won’t mention grr at the mo the fans have the upper hand on these 3 cronies let them sign the as beens & dinosaurs & then when fans are allowed back into the stadium snub them stay at home save lives save money from going into there pockets simples ⚒️

  8. Prefer king in all honesty.Has the premiership experience and done it for a number of seasons.Benrahma froze to non existence in the biggest match of his and Brentfords history.

  9. Forgot to mention. If both deals collapse we will be hearing the echo of nails being hammered into Sullivans gallows outside the stadium especially if Dawson becomes the sum total of our efforts. Its just never bloody straightforward with West Ham is it ?.

  10. I still don’t understand how it’s broken down he fell out with Brentford deal agreed its alledged. We haven’t spoken to him about personal terms something doesn’t ring true . So we will chase king but I won’t hold my breath & we really should be doing better than Dawson . Oh well at least the team are playing well , long may that continue ⚒

  11. We sell Diag. Championship player of the year I believe. Then spend a fortune to replace him. Good business sense by our board . Ha ha .

  12. Well , that’s pretty reliable ; move from “ west ham “ to Brentford . I sometimes wonder if we live on a flat earth ( joking of course ) . Great to see at least some activity and welcome too the Club ; DAWSON ., at least that wasn’t fake news .

  13. Let’s see what happens GSB have a track record of dragging these stories out before 9 times out of 10 failing to get them over the line. I wasn’t expecting either Benrahma or King and now that Dawson is only a loan it shows that they probs aren’t going to be digging deep again.

  14. This is all fake news according to the guardian and Benrahma deal is still likely to happen.

    • No Guardian says hopeful not likely – you may be unaware that stories change by the hour at this stage. Jacob – like all others – explained the deal could collapse in earlier tweet. Fake news? Both stories?

  15. This article just says Benrahama has fallen out with Brentford, it doesn’t explain why the deal may be off.?

  16. Who has actually watched Benrahama? He is no Hazard, falls over too easily and has bad hair. Who is he replacing on the first team?

  17. its on, its off, its on, its on, its off.

    on on on
    off off off
