Report: Bundesliga defender interests Hammers

The Hammers are tonight being linked with Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Jannik Vestergaard by Sky Sports.

Whilst Southampton have apparently held talks with the player, the Hammers are in the hunt for a defender who was part of Denmark’s World Cup campaign.

Vestergaard is a no messing defender who at 25 is at the perfect age as the Hammers look to bring in younger additions to their squad.

He stands 6ft 6in  and is the type of defender that Manuel Pellegrini has been looking at as his second central defensive signing of the summer following the arrival of Issa Diop.

Vestergaard, was an ever present in the Monchengladbach team last season and held his position and is a player who will be known to Reece Oxford who was on loan at the club when the Germans wanted to buy him!

  1. Doesn’t seem to have quite mastered the concept of running with the ball.
