Report: Competition in Worrall race

West Ham are facing competition in their bid to sign Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest this summer, according to a new report.

We revealed this morning that the Hammers sent scouts to watch the central defender against Liverpool on Sunday and were mightily impressed with his performance.

David Moyes is hoping to negotiate a summer deal to bring him into the club.

But The Sunday Mirror, via Sussex Live, has reported that there is also interest from Brighton and Everton in signing the Forest skipper.

We understand Worrall would cost around £15m in the summer, provided Forest don’t win promotion to the Premier League, and it seems that his performances have drawn admiring glances from elsewhere in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has been with Forest since 2015 and has 170 appearances for the club under his belt.

He has a contract until 2024 and Brighton are on the hunt for a new centre-back, having sold Dan Burn to Newcastle in January.

  1. A good buy.
At the moment a more pressing matter is that the website will not allow me to buy a ticket for the Europa League Q/F. The club sends me emails and a text as a season ticket holder but the links then just send me to the ticketing site and then tells me to register (done) and then just will not allow a purchase. And the ticket office phone line is closed. The club just seems chaotic.

  2. Well good players like Worrell and Phillips will attract top competition but we have to be more direct and decisive. Villa signed some top internationals earlier this season and got on with it. I fear our dithering will be to our detrament .
