Headed “The battle for signing a star forward intensifies with new offers in the Premier League“, an article appearing this morning details the ‘unexpected turn of events‘ that has overtaken what Barcelona expected to be a relatively straightforward passing of the baton from one generation to the next – the ‘anointing’ of their replacement for legendary striker but-soon-to-be 37 year old Robert Lewandowski.

Sources have long been saying Barcelona is David’s chosen destination when his contract at Lille expires in the summer. Of course, the Canadian is hot property and has been the subject of interest from Inter Milan, Manchester United, AC Milan, Chelsea, Juventus, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur. Amongst others.

But today the Barcelona – Madrid football news site reports “The Premier League surprise: West Ham steps forward”. Before another ‘West Ham News’ site leaps on this and reports it as plausible, and much as I’d like to believe the veracity of their article myself, the fact that they refer to West Ham as ‘David Moyes Club’ kind of throws doubt on their credibility.

However much they try and make up for their poor reporting with:

“Barça has had financial difficulties, and although some successes have given them breathing room, the competition for signings remains fierce. West Ham’s interest could force Barça to reconsider their strategy, especially if the English team makes a more attractive offer.”

They don’t convince me.

Interesting? Yes. Credible? Nope.

I’m sure West Ham would love to attract a striker of David’s calibre and ability: But if Jonathan David arrives at West Ham I’ll attend his debut wearing my leopard skin Mankini.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Would love to see Robert Lewandowski playing for us for a season before he gets too old.

      Age doesn’t matter at whu.
Grandad Cresswell is a good example followed by all other prospects at 30+.
