Payet and Bilic in happier times!

Dimi Payet is this morning being reported as target for Arsenal.

The Sun declares that should the north Londoners still be flying high in January the French midfielder will become an attractive option for Wenger as he bids to put the finishing touch to a title winning campaign.

Payet, 29, just fits the Arsenal manager’s age profile. Wenger has often been reluctant to offer deals to players at 30 plus but is clearly a fan of the midfielder. The Hammers, however, will remain reluctant to sell a player who is tied down to a £125k a week contract and to whom they are considering offer another improved deal.

However, he can expect to be watched very closely  by club bosses over the upcoming matches at Liverpool and the relegation games against Burnley and Hull after recent lack lustre performances.

Wenger gave his own thoughts on Payet last week when saying: “Payet is now even in France one of the star players, he has realised a bit late in his career and fulfilled his potential. West Ham was one of the triggers for him, not only did he convince last year he is a top class player, he won his place in the national team.”

Doesn’t work hard enough for a Wenger team or any top team thats why they have not signed him or put bids in.
