Report: Hammers approach for Barcelona defender

West Ham have made an approach for Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet according to reports rom Spain.

David Moyes is looking to fill a space to fill after releasing Fabian Balbuena.

He made 48 appearances in all competitions for Barca last season, but they may have to sell him to reduce the wage bill.

According to Diario Sport,  Premier League clubs Everton and West Ham have made an approach. They are both eyeing a deal on the same terms – a loan with an option to buy.

Barcelona will be listening to all offers for their players, including the 26-year-old.

According to Spanish sources, Roma has also entered into negotiations with Barça to sign the French centre back. A few weeks ago there was talk of a possible swap deal involving Lenglet and Italian midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, but this was flatly rejected by Roma. However, the club remains interested in Lenglet and has made a bid of up to 15 million euros for the player, a figure which Barça deems to be below his true market value of 25 million euros. It is understood that Barça would not sell the player less than this amount.
