Report: Hammers battling Arsenal for midfielder

The Hammers are reported to be battling Arsenal for the signing of Palmeiras midfielder Danilo, according to a Brazilian outlet named R7.

The Irons are in the market for new signings but we’ve got to say that this one is a bit strange, as a new midfielder has not exactly been high on David Moyes’ shortlist.

Still, R7 reports that there is interest from the Hammers in signing the 20-year-old in January along with the Gunners.

West Ham are said to have made an enquiry to find out how much he would cost to sign, while Arsenal are reported to have tabled a formal bid.

Still, Palmeiras do not want to sell and are intending to keep Danilo at the club beyond the end of this month.

Danilo operates primarily as a defensive midfielder and has earned a call-up to the Brazil U20 side as a result of his performances for his club, with whom he has a contract until 2025.

We can’t see this one going anywhere.
