Report: Hammers chase former Arsenal star

By Gonzo

French media outlet L’Équipe have  revealed that West Ham United have joined the race to sign Olympique Marseille midfielder and former Arsenal player Mattéo Guendouzi.

Guendouzi has thrived in France since arriving from The Gunners. After playing a leading role in the side that reached the Champions League this season, Guendouzi earned his place in the France squad and featured in their recent run to the World Cup final.

His performances at international and club level, have caught the attention of several English clubs that are keen on bringing him back to the Premier League. It’s believed that Guendouzi would take little or no time to adjust to English football given his time in North London.

Aston Villa have been linked with making a move for the midfielder this month, and it is understood that he is the Midlands club’s priority signing. The former Arsenal player has briefed friends about his future, and is understood to be aware of West Ham and Villa’s interest.

  1. Wonder if it is worth waiting up on Tuesday night to find out if we are buying someone, or can we all go to bed. Gosh I miss David Gold at times like this.
