Report: Hammers close in on deal

West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Alphonse Areola permanently, as per a new report.

The France international has spent the season on loan at the club from PSG, and has primarily been used as a back-up, playing mainly in the Europa League.

He impressed in the competition, though, as the Irons reached the semi-finals, only to lose to eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt.

Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that the Hammers have been convinced by his performances and are set to take up the option to sign him permanently in this transfer window soon.

The deal will be easy for the Irons to do, and one has to assume that it is only likely to kick off a summer of recruitment.

David Moyes is keen to strengthen the squad beyond what is already at the club, and he is set to be backed by the board as he looks to secure his main targets.
