Report: Hammers close to signing keeper

West Ham are in advanced talks to sign Millwall goalkeeper David Martin.

With Adrian on his way this summer and the club ready to allow Nathan Trott to join a Chapionship club on loan, Martin is set to become back up to Lukasz Fabianski on a one or two year deal.

The 33 year – despite reportedly having been offered a new contract by Millwall – is ready to quit The Den for the London Stadium.

The Irons were never likely to spend heavily on a back-up stopper in the current circumstances believing Trott to the their future behind the sticks.

And Martin – despite having made 339 appearances at MK Dons over seven years – has appeared just 15 times since joining the south London outfit.

The Hammers were only ever in the keeper market for an experienced keeper who could be signed on a short one or two year term deal and, according to The Mail, Martin is the one they are going for.

Meanwhile the club will entertain loan offers for Under 23 Trott who according to training ground sources is more than ready for a move to a quality Championship outfit.

The stopper signed a new three year deal earlier in the year declaring at the time : “Signing this new deal is a great moment for me

“When you’re working hard every day on the training pitch, trying to perform as best as you can for the manager, and your hard work gets noticed, it’s a great feeling.”

  1. The only time i have seen him play was against brighton in the fa cup. That mistake when he let that goal in at the last minute was woeful.Mind you i did let out a big cheer,I hope that if we sign him he will be behind trott for choice.

  2. Doesn’t exactly take us to the next level does it….like being offered a sausage sandwich only to find it’s a vegan sausage.

  3. I would have thought there are better stop gap signings who have Premier League experience. Everton just got Lossl as number 2 and we’re after somebody who’s been mainly League One level. Kinda makes you think we may as well just have Trott as number 2.

  4. I agree. That clanger against Brighton was amateurish. There must be a decent back up keeper out there? Get Rob Green back from Chelsea if needs be.

  5. why not give Adrian another year until Trott is considered ready? If he’s gonna be a second choice elsewhere, why not stay with us?

  6. He will be a cheap #2 but I would of gone for Keriwn Westwood I’ve always liked him 24 now but been IMO one of the best Championship GKs over past 5 years. Sheffield Wednesday on free think he is better & might fancy be back in PL with chance for cup games.
**But most importantly I think Trott & Anang should get koans even if league 2. We have 2 very hood keepers both Same age. Trott has been #1 for a while took over a year to get Anang’s Permit but he ha been so good & taken Trott’s place was also good in HK7s shame we didn’t Go further Holland killed it too. Weve been waiting to Kate to loan some players. But Trott & Anang both could be our future #1 & now we got another huge prosoeect that Xavi is very excited about in Krisztian Hegyi only 16 highly rated had other big clubs keen & impressed already for U-18s. He could make Jump to U23s especially since we are dropping again. Then Holland & Grady should get loans to imo.
