Hammers eye Cresswell replacement
Surely it’s no coincidence that the recently avalanche of transfer rumours has coincided with the Premier League hiatus. It’s almost as if the international break has created a vacuum of actual news.
However the silly season pre-season is back with a vengeance, and this time the reports concern another Brazilian.
West Ham are this time supposedly pursuing Atletico Mineiro’s defender Guilherme Arana during the upcoming January transfer window.
Apparently Hammers representatives were present at the Arena Pantanal recently, closely monitoring the 26-year-old Arana, who played for Brazil in their recent 1-1 draw against Venezuela. You’ll have to excuse my cynicism, West Ham do indeed have a scouting network in Brazil so perhaps there is some validity in this report.
David Moyes is actively seeking a new left-back as Aaron Cresswell is expected to leave the club in January. If West Ham decide to make a move for Arana in the upcoming transfer window, it’s believed that Atletico Mineiro will not block his potential move to the Premier League.
While the Hammers face competition from other clubs like Wolves and Brentford, who also have representatives scouting the left-back this week, reports suggest that West Ham’s interest is currently the most advanced.
