West Ham have reportedly set their sights on Danish winger Andreas Skov Olsen, a player making waves across Europe. The Irons are rumoured to have strong interest in signing the 24-year-old from Club Brugge. Often likened to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Olsen has a good goal scoring record and is beginning to forge a decent reputation for himself.

However, I can’t help but question the need for another winger—especially with £20m summer signing Luis Guilherme yet to make an impact—yet reports suggest West Ham may be serious about adding Olsen, but I’m not so sure.

Under contract until June 2026, Olsen’s club value him at around £25-30 million, which seems like wishful thinking from Brugge given the current state of the transfer market. For West Ham, however, funds may be tight unless we consider cashing in on Arsenal target Mohammed Kudus who was yesterday reported to be  £90m target for the North London club.

Olsen’s performance this season, with five goals and one assist in the league, has drawn attention. Boasting a career record of 46 goals and 25 assists in 113 appearances at Brugge and a brief look at his highlight reel indicate he’ll be a decent signing for someone. However, with West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, and Luis Guilherme all favouring the right wing, I see this as a non-starter, especially with other pressing needs in attack and midfield.

I think Lopetegui and Steidten have already blown the budget and you couldn’t give half the player’s away! Sick to death with articles declaring the possibility of signing more useless, ineffectual, overpriced and so often talentless over 25 year old player’s. We’re so far behind other club’s now it’s embarrassing as are our results and performance’s. When Steidten starts signing young, undiscovered player’s with ability and potential to the value of 6m – 10m and they start performing on the pitch and we build a team for the long term then we would be making progress. This is now worse than anytime under Moyes and just can’t see any hope of taking any point’s from our next three game’s.

I’d bite Arsenal’s hand off at that price.
