Report: Hammers in Serie A race

West Ham are in the race to sign a Serie A defender this summer, according to a new report.

Sampdoria defender Omar Colley is being eyed by a number of Premier League clubs, with the Hammers joined by Newcastle, Leeds, and Fulham in chasing his signature.

Sport Witness carries the report from ClubDoria46, claiming that the Gambia international is set to be at the centre of a summer tug of war.

Colley has been a central figure for Claudio Ranieri’s side in Italy, making a total of 21 appearances in all competitions.

Fulham had tried to sign the Gambian star in the summer and Colley is valued at between €10m and €15m (£8.5m and £12.8m) ahead of the summer transfer window.

Colley did sign a new contract in January but that deal is no guarantee of him staying in Italy and could instead have been designed to protect his transfer value amid the interest from England.
