Report: Hammers eyeing Diop replacement

West Ham are eyeing a deal for Thilo Kehrer as a potential replacement for Issa Diop, per the Standard.

The Hammers defender looks set to leave the club after boss David Moyes confirmed that he had refused to play in the opening day defeat to Manchester City.

That meant Ben Johnson was forced to play as a centre-back due to a defensive injury crisis that has gripped the Irons.

Kehrer currently plays for PSG and can play as both a centre-back and a left-back.

He has emerged as the Irons’ No.1 choice to fill the position, as fellow target Conor Coady closes in on a move to Everton.

Kehrer has been with PSG since 2018 and has made 128 appearances for the club, while also winning 20 caps for Germany.

Diop now looks almost certain to complete a move to Fulham, with whom he has been linked throughout the transfer window, although they have yet to meet the Irons’ asking price of around £20m.
