Report: Hammers face competition from ‘many clubs’

West Ham face competition from a number of clubs in the summer if they want to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the club were interested in doing a deal for the striker in the summer, when a bid worth €48m (£40m) was tabled for the Uruguay international.

Benfica opted to keep hold of their prized asset but he could now be on the move in the summer, with the transfer insider claiming that a number of clubs are mulling over potential moves.

It would come as little surprise, given that Nunez has been in electric form for the Portuguese club for some time now.

He has scored 15 goals in 16 games thus far this term in the league and is just 22, with the potential to only get better.

It remains to be seen if the Hammers will come back in for the player but one has to assume that this report, really, is spot on.

Very High Rater
