Report: Hammers fighting Leeds for Bundesliga ace

West Ham hold an interest in signing midfielder Marc Roca from Bayern Munich this summer, according to The Athletic.

The outlet reports that Leeds are interested in a deal to sign the Spaniard, who has been with Bayern since 2020.

Signed from Espanyol in La Liga, Roca has struggled for minutes at Bayern, playing just 24 times in total, and making nine appearances in the 2021/22 season.

Leeds are said to be monitoring Roca as they look to provide support to Kalvin Phillips and he could be available for just £10m.

The Athletic claims that German sources also believe the Hammers are monitoring Roca ahead of a potential move of their own.

David Moyes, of course, will need to bring midfield competition into the club, with both Mark Noble and Alex Kral leaving the club, while there remain question marks over Tomas Soucek’s future.

Moyes has targeted other midfield reinforcements and actually holds an interest in Phillips at Elland Road, along with Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse.
