Report: Hammers go for a different defender

|

West Ham have turned their transfer attentions to Attila Szalai, according to a new report.

Sky Sports Germany reports that the Fenerbahce defender is now firmly on David Moyes’ list as he bids to replace Issa Diop.

The centre-back has departed to join Fulham, leaving the Irons short in the centre-back position.

The new report claims that the Irons made a move to sign Thilo Kehrer from PSG but are struggling to convince him to leave the French giants.

He is said to be intrigued by the prospect of a move to West Ham but would currently prefer to remain in France.

As a result, Szalai is seen as a potential option because he would be a much cheaper acquisition.

The 24-year-old is an experienced Hungary international with 27 caps to his name, and has made 68 appearances for Fenerbahce since arriving in 2021.

He has a contract that runs until 2025 and is valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt.

I know it’s his prerogative but I don’t understand Kehrer’s attitude. For the 1st 2 PSG matches he hasn’t even been on the bench and he wants to be in the German world cup squad. No chance at PSG, maybe he hasn’t got the confidence to cope with the Premiership. I did notice that West Ham low balled again on the offer though. Strange how teams like Forest manage to find a player and within a few days he’s signed-18 times??

I have a mate who knows a player , the real storey is we won’t pay what PSG want for Kehrer. I know we are not meeting the asking price so this is not DM it’s the board . You can speak up for the board but I’m not having it anymore. It’s the boards fault !
