Report: Hammers interest in Bayer Leverkusen centre-back

|

Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah has attracted interest from West Ham according to the Daily Star

The 24-year-old, who has a €40 million (£36.5m) release clause, could potentially make the switch to the London Stadium on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

After slipping down the pecking order at BayArena during last season, Tah has watched Leverkusen’s two first games of the new season from the bench.

The centre-back has been with Bayer since 2015, having signed for the club from Hamburger SV for 7.5 million euros. The Germany international’s current deal expires in 2023.

Last season, Tah has provided one assist in 39 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.

Jonathan Tah has earned 9 senior caps for the Germany national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Leicester City who are also in the market for a centre-back before the transfer window closes next Monday.
