West Ham want to sign Athletic Bilbao centre-back Unai Nunez, according to a new report.
Sport Witness carries a piece from Mundo Deportivo claiming that the defender is wanted by the Hammers, as well as manager David Moyes’ old club, Everton.
West Ham are said to have sounded out the player about the possibility of moving to England, and he is keen on sealing a loan away from Bilbao.
Nunez has struggled for minutes in recent seasons and made 20 league appearances last season.
He has a €30m (£27.4m) release clause in his contract but it appears that he would prefer to move on a short-term deal than a permanent one.
Nunez is said to have rejected three offers of a new contract at the club, such is his determination to move away in this window.
It remains to be seen if Bilbao will sanction a loan deal, but the Hammers could well be monitoring developments as they unfold.
