Report: Hammers keen on Argentine international

|

The Irons are today reported as being ready to move in on Sevilla and newly-capped Argentina playmaker Franco Vazquez.

TuttoMercatoWeb claims the No 10 could be heading to the London Stadium in January after being targeted by Manuel Pellegrini in the summer.

Vazquez is a playmaker who can also fill in as a winger, striker or central midfielder but with Pellegrini looking at higher priority position for strengthening in the summer – notably at the back – time ran out for him to land a deal.

Negotiations could be difficult however as the player is on a contract at Sevilla until 2021 and after making his debut appearance in the international break for Argentina the price will inevitably rise.

However, Pellegrini is keen although the Hammers may have to offload a player or two to make it happen- which is against their instincts right now – to land their man.

Vazquez and Manu Lanzini are not dissimilar in style and with the Hammers other Argentine on the way back, team selection could become interesting if Vazquez arrives at the club.

A source admitted to ClaretandHugh that the club are keen to bring in a new midfielder this January but kept names firmly to himself!
