Report: Hammers knocked back in midfielder loan bid

West Ham have this morning been reported as having been knocked back in a bid to sign Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan in January.

According to the well connected journalist Tony Banks, writing in the Daily Express,  Manuel Pellegrini was keen to strengthen his midfield resources with the player in January.

But sadly it appears that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has blocked the player from going anywhere on loan this season.

The 22-year-old has now started to break into Sarri’s side on a more regular basis and the Hammers boss will need to look elsewhere.

After a good World Cup it looked like Loftus-Cheek might have to go back out on loan, with Crystal Palace again interested, but now the powerful Chelsea academy graduate looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge for the season.
