Report: Hammers linked with German striker

RB Leipzig have offered Timo Werner a bumper new contract worth £100,000-a-week to fend off interest from the Premier League according to German publication BILD. The 22 year-old moved to Leipzig in 2016 from Stuttgart, scoring 42 goals in his first two seasons with the club.

Recent reports have suggested that Werner is one of a number of targets on a long list drawn up by Pellegrini as possible replacements for Marko Arnautovic and/or Javier Hernandez.

Werner has scored 11 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season attracting Premier League interest. Leipzig are said to be desperate to keep hold of their star player at the club, and have offered him club record wages to commit his future to them.

Werner is claimed to be unsure about signing the new deal with speculation that Liverpool, Spurs and West Ham all have interest in him to join the Premier League.

Last week,  German publication Bild claimed that both Liverpool and Spurs are interested in signing Werner,  seeking competition for Roberto Firmino and for Harry Kane. Last June Italian journalist Emanuele Guilianelli claimed West Ham were ready to launch a €25m (approximately £22m) bid for the RB Leipzig striker.

  1. He would be a great signing

  2. Don’t get too excited. Ex said we’d made an enquiry but basically said it’s a non starter, and just one of many strikers from top leagues being looked at.
