Report: Hammers look at managerial names

ThomasTuchel2014_(cropped)West Ham are this morning reported as having added German coach Thomas Tuchel (right) to that of Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri should they sack Slaven Bilic.

The 44 year old Tuchel managed Borussia Dortmund for two years.

In his first season at Dortmund, Tuchel led the club to the quarter-final stage of the Europs League where they were eliminated by his predecessor Klopp’s Liverpool.

Sarri has caught the imagination  as West Ham consider a boss with no Premier League although he has a release clause in his Napoli contract believed to be in the region of seven million euros.

The club has not entirely discounted David Moyes, their first preference before Bilic ahead of Rafa Benitez.

Huddersfield’s David Wagner and Fulham’s Slavisa Jokanovied e also received mentions for West Ham as the pressure continues to build on Bilic with the crowd singing : “You’re getting sacked in the morning” at yesterday’s game against Spurs before the Hammers  pulled two back.

  1. Well something needs to happen , sooner than later . A win against Swansea will see attitudes change again untill the next time . Probably leave it too late and then call Sir Trevor in to achieve the impossible . Somebody needs to wake up ., Slaven .
Right now even David Moyes sounds good . God help us .

  2. I read on the bbc match report that said West Ham fans were singing ‘sacked in the morning’. I never heard this at the match. Spurs fans were singing it but I didn’t hear it from our fans at all. This distorts the article and makes it seem that the fans are now all anti Bilic. I didn’t get that impression at the match and it seems to be added to this article to support the claims that the board are looking for replacements.

  3. David Moyes . Surely things are not that bad ! I like Bilic, & I do think that he is being treated somewhat unfairly but, something has to improve immediately – or we are doomed. You can see the shape of the final league table , even now. I can’t help feeling that Bilic is somewhat bewildered & that he is generally incapable of getting us out of danger. But, I could be wrong -& very much hope that I am !

  4. Please please not David Moyes. I want Bilic out but would take Bilic any day against Moyes. Rafa or Sarri they are a step forward.

  5. Fair shout on Moyes, can’t see what new he would bring us. But equally a fair shout on Slav, he is starting to look like someone who really does not know what to try next. I’m worried for him, but I’ve no idea who the board might be considering, and that worries me more. So, at the risk of splintering my ar*e, I’m torn between making a change now and giving Slave another half a dozen games to get it right. If a change is needed, we can still make it in time for January?

  6. This reporting of the “sacked in the morning” chanting is getting ridiculous now…anyone who was there knows it was the Spuds fans!!!

  7. And off topic, but related to chants and how the PC idiocy of modern football has taken over…if the chanting by the Manure fans about the size of Lukaku’s penis is racist – does that mean out similar song for Sam Baldock was racist too?!?? Kick It Out do themselves no favours…

  8. I said it was pointless to give him four more games its obvious he isn’t up to the job and would go soon after ..how does giving a manager 4 more games change the way he manages.. Got to go ASAP.. In my opinion

  9. Tuchel yes, not sure about Sarri can’t see what he would bring, Rafa, Moyes definitely not had enough snorefest football under Allardyce, Jokanovic may be a decent shout as he knows the English game is a no nonsense character who wouldn’t be afraid to put a rocket up any of the players if he felt they needed it and as for lack of intensity until we go 2 or three down I couldn’t see it happening under him, doubt though whether the chairmen would see him as a big enough name and he hasn’t managed any high profile clubs yet. Whoever we go for if we replace Bilic would need to be able to gain the players respect quickly the easiest way to do that is by improving them through superior coaching something Bilic has never shown any aptitude for, judging at least by players comments and through witnessing the performances over three years, he seems to rely on the players to improve themselves which is not imho the best way.

    • Sarri wouldn’t come let’s be honest he is breaking Serie A history w 6 wins and in 1st w Juve. They lost important players but play lovely attacking football and can defend. Rafa said he isn’t leaving Newcastle tho what he is doing w Newcastle looks good now bc he is very big on making sure everyone knows their job.
Tuchel would be great too but he turned down Southampton, Leverkusen, and multiple Serie A and Ligue 1 sides would he come here?
Moyes NO! If we won’t to get relegated Yes! He had no life in him at Sunderland.
Agree on Jokanovic for me I like he goes by SLAV so some fans won’t even notice change, he plays great attacking football & has a plan a b c & e. And he is in London for me he would be the most likely and he had issues over summer w Fulham’s transfer bc they have a Sporting Director and he doesn’t have final say so he would love it here. There he just gives them a list of positions and names. Tho I don’t think bringing in a big name is always the best way. I think he could do the job. Got Watford up but didn’t get chance to stay on in PL.
Another I have seen mention of course Mancini who is use to big budgets but doing well in Russia not sure on him and Inzahgi who wouldn’t be bad.
But I imagine we will put it off like we usually do the Sours game end of last season pretty much saved Bilics Job.
They cans be indecisive like w Grant when £100m is up fro grabs I would imagine

      • Yep, Jokanovic is the wild card but as of yet has never had to manage PL ego’s, he is reputed to be a hard taskmaster but did as you say a great job to get Watford promoted and then dismissed as have every other manager after a season, I hope we would move sooner rather than later for whoever it is, I think Tuchel should be asked the question, Klopp after all said he thought WHU would have been a good fit for him if it wasn’t for Liverpool, Wagner is doing well at Huddersfield and Tuchel did well at Dortmund, I like his style of play and he makes sure the team is super organised, it’s a step up from Bundesliga and he could see us as a stepping stone even if he doesn’t see us as his final destination, either way I would be happy to see him given a chance if the reports are true.

  10. Where are the reports that West Ham are looking at alternatives to Bilic?

  11. I’d prefer mancini he’s wasted in China or the fat waiter deffo not moyes although he does buy British but still no
