Report: Hammers Look to Serie A for Surprise Striker Target

Reports from Italy suggest West Ham are interested in signing Napoli forward Giacomo Raspadori, having previously pursued the Italian in 2022 when he was playing for Sassuolo alongside Gianluca Scamacca.

The Hammers opted for the target man in that partnership, paying £35 million for Scamacca, who endured a disappointing 12 months in East London before being offloaded at a £10 million loss.

However, the pair later played together for the Italian national side, and Scamacca eventually repaired his reputation after moving to Atalanta.

Raspadori has made 14 appearances for Napoli this season, scoring once and providing one assist, but he is not a regular starter. His limited game time has prompted media speculation that the 24-year-old could be considering a move away.

West Ham are believed to have made an approach for the forward, though I’d take that with a pinch of salt. While Raspadori is undoubtedly a talented player, his playing style is completely different from the four strikers West Ham have targeted in this transfer window.

It’s somewhat difficult to believe we would suddenly switch from physical forwards like, Brobbey, Ferguson, Duran & Silva and suddenly target a diminutive trickster.

This one feels like nothing more than hopeful rumours circulated by agents.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

I’m not sure Scamacca’s reputation needed saving. At West Ham he was a good striker who was injured most of the time. He has been exactly the same at Atalanta

We know how much Villa will accept for Duran should we not try again before he goes to Saudi ?

  • Jeeps says:

Sure Scamacca will have a word in his ear only difference is Moyes and Potter.
It was always a toss up between Scamacca and Raspadori who got picked for national team.
If these are of same makeup it could be questionable if either are physical enough for premier league on continual basis.

What about Delap (Ipswich) ? Has anyone at West Ham actually considered this powerful and skilled forward / striker ? Or. Are we waiting for Ipswich to drop down and be surrounded by scouts and agents, looking to snap him up.

    • Chunk says:

I would love for us to sign Delap. Wouldn’t need anytime to adjust as knows the league. Unfortunately I don’t think Ipswich would sell in January so we would have to wait till summer. These are the sort of players that I personally would be going for, Delap, McAtee, Gomes, for examples. Young British based players or come through British academies who know the game with the hunger to prove themselves. Hasn’t got to be all British as there is some exceptional talents out there from abroad. I’m a big fan of Summerville but do believe the backbone of the team and majority should be.

Spot on but that would be common sense and that is in short supply anywhere really

Gonzo can you put the rumour rater on all the transfers, makes them more fun to read and it brings consistency.

Agree with this one, we were supposedly looking at him also when we signed Scamacca his old teammate so suspect it’s recycling old stories.
