According to The Athletic, West Ham have already made contact with Greek side PAOK over a potential deal for striker Chuba Akpom, who started his career at Arsenal.
The report claims the Hammers were keen to bring Akpom in last summer, but in the end a deal failed to materialise.
Akpom is said to have wanted to see if PAOK qualified for the Champions League but they failed to make the cut having been dealt a difficult qualifier against last season’s semi-finalists Ajax, who beat them 5-4 on aggregate in two close-run legs.
Akpom has only started three league games for PAOK this season which will has led to huge frustration for the London-born player after featuring as the club’s main striker in 2018/19 last season.
The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals in 45 games for PAOK since joining from Arsenal in August 2018 and currently has 19 months to run on his current deal.
As per our earlier article with the role of Mario Husillos up in the air we are not sure how seriously we should take these early transfer rumours of contact and the such like.

Oh please the circus of the transfer widow lions 😂
Sounds dodgy – 11 goals in 45 appearances hardly prolific especially in the Greek league !
Surely our scouts can come up with a bit better quality than this.
How much would Hull want for Jarrod Bowen ? I reckon he can do it in the Prem’ but probably too expensive for us.
We’ll never compete until we start spending a lot more and overhaul our recruitment strategy, as recruitment has been awful in the Pelle’ era.
Dave’s will have to go sooner rather than later, as they can’t take us forward.
! goal every 4 games strikers and not in the PL seems to be who we are being linked with, we should be aiming for 1 goal every couple of games, he looks like he has pace but the other kid Everton Soares looks better. This imho has all the hallmarks of a panic buy, pay the money for top quality, Haller is top quality but he needs quality with pace alongside him. Duvan Zapatta, Gabigol, Soares these look like they are capable.
