At West Ham United, our silly season of summer transfer activity is heating up, and the latest rumour appears to be Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson. Reports are buzzing in the Arsenal gossip circles that talks are already on the table for Nelson. This may be wishful thinking from the Gooners point of view but The Hammers do have historical interest in the player.
Nelson’s last season saw him largely in the shadows at Arsenal, limited to just 257 minutes in top-flight matches, overshadowed by the performances of Bukayo Saka. Mikel Arteta’s evident lack of trust in Nelson has led to frustrations for the young winger, making a move to our side of London an attractive option for the player who wants to remain in the capital.
Despite me finding Nelson’s performances underwhelming—especially noting that he tends to turn up the heat against West Ham—it’s clear he possesses the talent that could do well under a different gaffer. Our management is keenly aware of the necessity to strengthen our line-up as we aim to build on our transfer market activity.
The financial aspect could pose a challenge, though. Nelson’s current deal with Arsenal bags him around £100,000-a-week, a figure that is completely out of the question for the West Ham budget. Whilst The Irons board would be happy to pay big wages for a first team player, it seems too much for a substitute.
Arsenal’s stance has been somewhat firm, having rejected several offers for him in the January window. They are expected to ask for around £20 million (€23.7 million) for Nelson. This valuation reflects the potential they see in him, but I can’t see West Ham paying that much.
I just read up it’s apparently true . LOL not bad for a player who I wouldn’t recognise if I walked past him in the street. With all respect to him .
Reiss nelson on £100 000 a week . laughable nonsense how does this site dream up utter baloney like this . Do better lads .
Pass. No need for the player as he’ll only take minutes from Earthy and Guillermes and definitely no need for that salary. Woof!
