West Ham have missed out on Unai Nunez.
The Athletic Bilbao defender has long been linked with a move to the Hammers and were linked with an interest in the centre-back last year.
Sport Witness carries a report from AS, claiming that the Hammers had told Bilbao they would pay his release clause of €30m (£26.7m) last year, but he was not keen on a move.
He has also been linked with a handful of other English clubs; Wolves, Crystal Palace, and Watford were also said to be chasing his signature.
However, Bilbao have now found an agreement to keep him at the club as he looks to extend a stay that began in 2017.
He is just 23 but already has 80 appearances to his name at the club, while he has also won one senior cap for Spain.
Of course, the Irons spent the summer chasing a central defender but ultimately signed Craig Dawson on loan from Watford.
